help plan an itinerary - Switzerland with kids (Geneva side)

Edited to add: Do not want to visit Bern, Lauterbrunnen, Zurich, Murren etc as we've already done that. Most forum posts/research are about those areas which is why i'm struggling.

Traveling with 3 kids (ages 2 through to 11), will land and fly out from Geneva June 6-20th (2 weeks). We want to explore Geneva but then move further to smaller towns either in France and/or Switzerland. Was considering Chamonix, Annecy etc. Then making our way over to Zermatt and back to GVA to fly out. Considering we have kids in tow and likely a decent amount of luggage, would renting a car and doing this route make more sense? Since it' early in the season alot of things aren't going to be open yet in Chamonix, is it still worth going?

I'm also open to any other routes - since I'm going in circles last few weeks trying to map this out. What we are looking for is nature walks (easy hikes), wildlife (cows are included in this category), scenic train/gondola rides, viewpoints etc. Don't want to do super long drives/train rides (ZER to GVA is 4 hours, willing to do that one way but that the max!) or more than 4 cities to stay overnight in total (open to day trips).

If anyone can help guide me that would be great. Tried this on CHAT GPT but didn't get the best response so looking for some human support ;)

Thank you!

Hey GlobalCitizen,

Try Swiss Family Fun: Montreux & Lake Geneva region, or Swiss Family of 5: Geneva or Valais. I found both of these blogs to be extremely helpful planning our family trip last summer. We did parts of Germany, Appenzell, Wengen, and Zurich.

The Swiss Family of 5 blog, if my memory serves me correctly, is written by a French Swiss mom.

Thank you both! Very helpful. We are quite stuck re accommodation... and are rethinking the whole route now! Will do a new post with the updated potential plan and if we're unable to find a spot to stay within budget (do not want to sacrifice on quality of stay) then we will cancel our trip altogether and try again maybe earlier next year! Thanks for both the resources you shared.
