Help Needed

Hi All,

Me and my wife are travelling to Switzerland for 3 Days. We planning to stay in Lauterbrunnen for 2 nights?, as we want to visit Jungfrau region for 1 day. We need help in planning out Jungfrau region trip as we are clueless about travelling by the train or cable car in the most economical way. We would like to visit jungfraujoch and go to and fro from the most scenic route. Please suggest the best time of the day to visit the region and help us to plan the itinerary.

Regards,
Mohit

From your other post, looks like you are coming from Italy. Are you flying or taking a train?
The nominal round trip fare from Lauterbrunnen to the Jungfraujoch is about 183 CHF. If you have a Half Fare Card, which costs 120 CHF per person, that cuts it in half. The break even point is 240 CHF worth of Swiss Railway tickets, so if have other journeys in mind, plus transportation to/from Lauterbrunnen, you will save money.

It is risky to limit yourself to only one day in the Berner Oberland because the weather in the high mountains is notoriously unpredictable. Only having one day means that if you run into bad weather at the summit and have no alternate time possible you are out of luck.

Far better, if you can, is concentrate a good deal of your time there so that you can take full advantage.

You don't say when these three days are, and weather varies a little from season to season, but in Spring and Summer the clearest skies at the summits is in the mornings, and after noon clouds often are created and cluster around the summits.
