Help in interpreting Swiss Train Schedule

I finally figured out how to read the SBB in English. However, I cannot figure out what FR BZ RZ or R means. Please help! Also, do the bistro cars just have snacks or do they serve sandwiches also? Thank you!

which route are you trying to decipher? Are you using sbb.ch/en?

FZ, BZ, RZ refer to the availability of Family, Business, and Quiet zones. Irrelevant to most tourists, except perhaps the Family zone (includes a small play area on many trains!).

R refers to the possibility of reserving seats, but nobody does that except on specific scenic trains like Golden Pass and Glacier Express.

Bistro cars will have light lunch options, but it's better to use a train station supermarket/shop before boarding, unless you start from a small place.

Great info. I did look at Seat 61, but he did not explain the codes. So, thank you for responding. Also, good to know about the bistro car vs the supermarket at the train station. Since we will be starting out at the Zurich airport, & change trains at the HB, will we walk by the supermarket? I'm wondering as I don't know how much time we have in between connections, especially since we will have our luggage. Also, can you get off a train and get back on to get a snack for example? Maybe it would make more sense to buy something at the airport, although I understand it's not inexpensive.

A note about the trains that include bistro cars - don't assume that you can access the "restaurant" from any train car. I thought I'd be able to walk down the train and go from car to car to get to the snack bar area, but on the last train I was on, I was somehow in a car that didn't allow walk-through access to the rest of the cars and thus I couldn't reach the bistro while the train was moving.

It is expensive you can buy food at the airport to eat on the train. It is usually cheaper than on the train and you would have refresher options
