Help getting to Chur and/or Zurich

Today (July 10, 2025), we were supposed to take the Bernina Express from Tirano to Chur, but the train is canceled due to a rockfall. The people on the ground said to take the train from Tirano to Pontresina to Sagliains to Chur. My research says the next train from Sagliains to Chur is tomorrow at 11:30 at night.

Anyone know whether there are regional routes that will get us to Chur tonight? Shouldn't there be buses routing people around where the rockslide is? I think it's Thusis and Tiefencastel.

Alternatively, I was going to stop in St. Moritiz, stay the night and then leave for Zurich in the morning. Would that be an option?

Are you at a train station now? Just ask for help or use the SBB app to find alternatives.

Assuming you mean the 14:24 now cancelled train was the one you wanted to be on. You will see that there are options departing at 15:00, 15:41, 16:06, etc.

There is also a note saying that the restriction due to rockfall will last until approx. 17:00.

According to the Rhaetian bahn website, as of 0930 this morning, replacement buses are indeed in use.
Two later messages on the RhB website note that trains are being diverted after Filisur via Klosters and that the rock slide should be cleared by 1700.
The diversions seem to be confirmed by the live SBB journey planner.
I would set off travelling hopefully. It looks like you should get through, if delayed.
This is clearly a fast moving incident.
On board train crew and the journey planner will keep you updated.
At worst, if you can find somewhere to stay you will get to St Moritz.

Thank you both for the information. I thought there should have been buses, but someone told us to take this other route through Sagliains instead. We'll get off in St. Moritze and assess whether we can get to Chur tonight.
