Help deciding on Alpine My Way Sept 2026 dates

Hello, I’m torn between booking this tour Sept 2 or mid Sept.
Shorter days later in Sept and maybe better fall foliage but less crowds.
Earlier in month, might be too hot? But longer days and more crowds.

Would love to hear from anyone that has taken this trip in September. Your thoughts and comments. Thanks!

OnTheGo,
I took the last departure in September 2023 and the lift from Chamonix to Italy was closed for the season. Is that something you want to do? Crowds were lighter and temperatures were not that warm then. We had sunny blue skies most of the time. The Dolomites were a little cloudy one day but sunny the next. We did have light rain in Fűssen so we didn’t see the Zugspitze.

Hi Judy, Yes I would love to do that lift. I guess there are pros and cons for both dates. And who knows about weather rolling into an area especially in the mountains.
The tour dates I’m on the fence about
Sep 2-13
Sep 14-25

I just want to be sure I have considered everything.

Sept. 2-13 is waitlisted
Sept. 14-25 has 1 seat open.

You might call the RS office and ask them when the season ends for the gondola to Italy. My tour missed it by 3 or 4 days. 9/18-9/29/2023.

There is a website which I just typed in: Aguille du midi gondola to Italy. It might give the last day the lift operates in 2026 or it might be too early. I think you would be safe with the Sept. 14-25 tour but I would confirm that. If you don’t get to do this, you will still experience the thrills of what is open. Gorgeous scenery!

Another thought - sign up for the Sept.14-25 tour to get the $100 early signing discount and put yourself on the waitlist for the Sept.2-13 tour. Then you can switch if you want to. RS makes it an easy process.

Yesterday I booked the last seat for Sept 2-13. Good idea to book the last seat on Sep 14 so I can gather more information. The last departure of the Aiguille du Midi operates Sept 14 this year so probably a similar date in 2026. Thank you for the tips and advice.
