Heat Wave

Toasty week coming up in Geneva, with temperatures approaching 100 F every day. And Geneva isn't a city with much climatisée. If you're traveling to this part of the world, prepare yourself.

Forecast is hot for London next week too, if anyone's interested. Hope you've got somewhere with A/C booked if you're a North American coming. High of 88F forecast Tuesday, so not the 100F of Geneva. At least you have a lake there? That helps somehow?

We're hot in North Idaho next week as well...makes me wish I was back on Orkney or Shetland as they have forecast highs in the 60's next week!

Hope you both stay cool!

It gets really hot in central London in some spots with the buildings, but isn't necessarily measured either. St James' Park was the measured hottest place in the UK a few weeks ago, but I've found it can be hotter if you're right up in the west end or Soho.

It's been really dry this year, at least in the south. I watch a channel on Youtube, Harry's Farm, and he's had some really terrible yields because of how dry it's been. He's an arable farmer (and former car magazine publisher) in The Cotswolds. I like his farming and car videos.

Our host is flummoxed by the fact I don't plan to swim in Lac Leman. Apparently she swims there every day. I'll only swim if I fall out of a boat.

Going for a swim is the standard way that city folk deal with heat in the summer. When I still had an office job in Bern we would start of working day really early. I was usually in the office by 6, and we would also dress down. Everyone was in shorts. And then spend the afternoon swimming and boating in the Aare.
