Hello! I bought the half fare pass for myself and my daughter and I don't understand how to use it ahead of being in Switzerland. I want to buy tickets online for some of the routes and it keeps asking me to register with a customer number, but for the life of me I can't find it on the pass I bought, or figure out how to get it! When you purchase tickets online, are they half price already and then you show your pass on the train?

Just buy online on SBB.ch “as a guest” and enter the Half Fare Card for the discount when prompted. The pass itself does not need to be connected to the tickets; you just show it to the conductor along with the half-price tix when asked.
also put the sub app on your phone - it assume you have a half fare like the locals get. The app lets you upload a credit card so you can purchase tickets on the go. The 1/2 fare card can also be uploaded to your apple wallet. We did have a conductor ask to see it on one of our train trips last year.
