It is next door to the more expensive Eiger Hotel. I just really want a great view!
We stayed at the Edelweiss. http://www.edelweiss-muerren.ch/
We had a room on the "mountain side" with the most spectacular view possible. We did half-board which got us breakfast and dinner each night. Nothing amazing, but good solid food. The location is perfectly situated for the train, shops etc. Don't know if it is the price you are looking for, but for sure it will have the view.
We were there in December and it was right before the season started so we opted to stay in Wengen and visit Murren. I payed close attention when we visited murren re: the hotels that I had almost booked if we had stayed there. The Hotel Eiger (NOT THE EIGER GUESTHOUSE, which is right next door), the Alpenblick, and Alpenruh all had phenomenal views. Just make sure you don't stay at the Eiger guesthouse. It's basically a youth hostel, right across from the train tracks and that's about all you can see from the guesthouse.
Hi juckles, no experience with the Eiger Guesthouse. We've stayed at the Hotel Jungfrau and Hotel Alpenruh - both had nice, clean rooms, balconies, and jaw-dropping views. Loved Murren :)
Murren (and the whole area) is one big jaw-dropping stunningly beautiful view. No matter where you go - you can't hide from it.
So, when you want to know if some place has a beautiful view - how much time do you plan on sitting in your room staring out the window when you "COULD" just step outside and be out IN that beautiful view. Honestly you won't be sitting inside staring out your window. You'll be out and about strolling through the village, or walking down to Gimmelwald, or sitting outside at a cafe, or sitting on one of the public benches dotted through out.
You don't need to worry about having a view because the whole place is one giant view.
Thanks, everyone! I went with the Alpenblick! I've been to this area many times and agree the views are all jaw dropping, but I am bringing a friend and wanted her to be blown away by the view from our hotel! A friend told her she should not miss Zermatt. But I have been to both and the Matterhorn itself not withstanding, I find the Jungfrau region much more beautiful!
I was not impressed by Zermatt - probably because I visited Murren/Wengen BEFORE I ventured to Zermatt.
