In September we plan to take trains from Innsbruck to Luzern (where we'll ride a lake steamer) and then to Lauterbrunnen for three days, where we will ride the Jungfraujoch train and take at least two gondolas/cog rail rides. Then we will take the train from Lauterbrunnen to Zurich airport. Should we purchase the Swiss Half Fare pass or the Jungfrau pass? Would appreciate any advice.
The best way to assess this is to do a detailed analysis, listing each train and lift and boat with full fare, then calculating the discount with a half fare card and the pass. I do an Excel spreadsheet each time we go to Switzerland (we’ve gone half-a-dozen times) based in what we plan to do. Yeah, it takes time, but you will stop second guessing yourself.
Sometimes we buy an HFC as well as a regional pass (usually the Berner Oberland Reg Pass).
