Gruyeres to Maison Cailler chocolate factory

We are taking a train from Bern down to Gruyeres. From Gruyeres we would like to visit the Maison Cailler chocolate factory. Is there a train that goes from Gruyeres to the chocolate factory? Rick Steves says there is an hourly train but if I try to look up train schedule online I can not find any info an a train between Gruyeres and Maison Cailler. Are there buses or maybe we would have to take a taxi?

There is a train: the station for the Caillier factory is called Broc Fabrique. If you look it up on SBB.ch (swiss railways website), you will find your way!
A change of trains is required in Bulle.

What website were you using? I checked the sbb site and a random day next month and it showed frequent trains between Gruyeres and Broc ( a transfer required).

I hope you enjoy the factory tour as much as we did. And the tasting room. Especially the tasting room.

CJean, I was using the rail Europe website. We stop in Bulle before getting to Gruyeres coming from Bern. Maybe we don't go all the way to Gruyeres but go from Bulle to Broc. If I try to look up any trains from Bern to Broc I still don't get anything. I will try using another site.

Not sure why you wouldn't use the website of the rail service you would be using. The SBB website will show the trains available from Bern to Broc.

I thought Rail Europe was the rail service we should be using. That is were we bought our Swiss Travel Pass through and they recommended downloading the Rail Europe app to use.

Rail Europe is merely a ticket agency, and they will not sell you local / regional Swiss train tickets, neither will they show the full timetable for those trains. The SBB website is the one to look at; the app is very good too, and since you will have a travel pass you will be able to hop on any train on the days when it is valid.

Such fun……especially the tasting room…….go hungry as you get to eat all of the chocolate in the tasting room you want but once you leave that is it……….you cannot go back in!

As balso said, you actually have to go back to Bulle to change trains. No through train Gruyeres to Broc Fabrique. That means you have to check your times carefully unless you are doing these on separate days.
