My 13 year old daughter and I will be staying in Wengen the first week of August for 7 days. We are experienced hikers. My daughter especially enjoys challenging hikes, but of course mom wants it to be safe. We are thinking of doing the hike from Pfingstegg to Baregg. We would also like to see the Gletscherschlucht Glacier Gorge. When we leave Baregg can we cut off on a different trail and hike to the gorge without returning to Pfingstegg?. On the map, it looks like we could go thru Marmorbruch and then on to the Gorge. Is this possible and if so what is the trail like and how long would it take? I know we could just return from Baregg to Pfingstegg, back to Grindlewald and then walk or take a bus from there, but I thought it might be fun to return a different way.
The route you describe would be trails number 24 (Pfingstegg to Baregg) and 27 (Pfingstegg to Gletscherschluct) on this map:

I have done the hike to Baregg as an out-and-back, and remember looking down on the Gletscherschlict area, but did not hike that way. The TI should have information on the trail conditions of younstop in and ask.
Having taken my own 13 yr-old daughter to the area, I can share a dozen of the trails we liked, with maps and pics. She even shows up feeding a goat at Kleine Scheidegg. The only one I'd call "challenging" is Schynige Platte to First. Check your forum mail by clicking on your name in the upper right.
Lola, thank you for the map.
Shoe, I look forward to reading the information you sent!
