We will not have a car in Switzerland, but we will be walking in many cities. What is a good iPhone navigation app for walking around Swiss cities in offline mode without getting lost? Thanks!
Also, in most Swiss cities, one has a river as a landmark and the Alps in the distance. I live in California, have no sense of direction, and it really helps me having that big ol' ocean out there on one side. 😉
We just get a map of the town or city from our hotel. Or the local TI.
I use the map app on my iphone, but I have data. I think there’s a way to use google maps offline, but I’m not familiar with it.
I’ve never been good with paper maps. They’re only good if you can figure out where you are on the map. 😊
maps.me is a good app. Download your regions in advance and you won't need a local sim or data.
It uses your GPS and shows you where you are.
As the others have mentioned, I also use the free paper maps provided by hotels much of the time. I always travel with a data plan so use Google Maps if necessary. I don't know of any offline methods, since I don't use them.
Google Maps has a feature where you can download the map of an area to your phone. Then when you are there and have no data, you can still use the map because it uses your phone GPS to locate you.

Pretty much this one. It is also useful for locating various services etc....
