We will be in Lucerne for four days in late August and want to take the Golden Pass Railway to Montreux. I am having a hard time figuring out how to reserve those tickets. Any suggestions? We plan to take the scenic train from Lucern to Montreux and then take an express train back the same day. We will have a Eurail Select Pass. Can I use that for both legs?

Thank you!
or Rail Europe
Yes, your Select pass is good for travel all day, until midnight, and covers both the Golden Pass route and your return route. For coverage area, see the blown-up version of the Switzerland map on the larger Eurail map that comes with your pass.
Rail Europe is a bad idea. Just a middleman that charges more (they have to make money of course) and doesn't show all of the trains and doesn't even work sometimes. Searching Lucerne -> Montreux for a reservation on RE in June gives me an error message that says their system can't find any trains on my particular day. Booking directly on www.goldenpass.ch yields no problems at all.
Avoid middlemen as a rule of thumb...
Booking directly on www.goldenpass.ch yields no problems at all.
Except that the site doesn't do bookings, it only provides info. Reservations can be made at this site: www.goldenpassline.ch
Michael,
Directly from www.goldenpass.ch got me to this page:
I'm sure you can reach the booking screen from several different links.
If a middleman provides a service, it can be worth the cost. YMMV.
Righto...that's why the Travel Agency Business is booming?
Expedia, travelocity, booking.com, kayak, and trip advisor are all middlemen and they are booming.
