My husband and I will be spending the first week of April in Switzerland and would like to take the Golden Pass panoramic train from Interlaken Ost to Lucern where the train ends. We will have the Swiss Pass which will cover this trip. My question is- can I just get tickets for this train at the Ost train station the day of our journey without a seat reservation or can I get these online before we leave for Switzerland? Also, I would like to confirm that this train travels in this direction. I see a lot of information about Lucern to Interlaken Ost but not a lot for the other direction. Thank you!
Your Swiss travel pass is all you need , no additional ticket is required . Just hop on ( in the appropriate class , of course ) and flash your pass to the conductor
In that direction, sit on the right-hand side out of interlaken for best views. At Meiringen, the train reverses, so it will become the left side, and that's also the best one so don't move.
Reservation is not needed on that route.
If you would like a preview of some of what is on your trip , this one hour travelogue from 1980 fills the bill . The Golden Pass , Luzern , Rigi , Montreux , and more ! https://youtu.be/Xb9vTT2Nqi8
