Golden Pass Line reservations

We are leaving for Switzerland on Thursday, Sept. 16. I have purchased a 15 day Swiss Travel Pass - Flex. I don't understand how to use it when purchasing rail (or any) tickets. We want to travel on the Golden Pass Line on Monday and Tuesday Sept 27 and 28. I went to the Golden Pass website and found the trains that I wanted to book, but I didn't see a place to use the Travel Pass when I tried to purchase the tickets.

Will you be in Montreux the day before you want to depart? I purchased my ticket from Montreux to Zweisimmen (I don’t know anything about a 2 day trip) the day before travel. The ticket office is in the main train station. The agent that helped me suggested reserved seats in 1st class for added comfort.

I got off in Zweisimmen, waited about 30 minutes and went on to Interlaken. The whole trip was about 4.5 hours through stunning scenery. Unfortunately no food was being served so I took my own snacks.

Good luck!

You don't need to buy a ticket with the STP, just get on the train and show your pass when the conductor comes by. As far as seat reservations go, they are generally not required, but often suggested for the Montreux-Zweisimmen section for groups. For the remainder of the journey, they are just normal hourly Swiss trains. Just board and go.

Thank you for the information about how to use the Pass. I do want to get seat reservations on the segment of the Golden Pass Line from Montreux to Zweisimmen in both directions. I'd like to get them before I get to Switzerland, I assume that once I'm there I can get them at any train station ticket office, but I'd rather not spend the time in line at a ticket office and I'd like to get the reservations as soon as I can for peace of mind that I have them

Go through the booking process—-choose the train you want (Belle Epoque, Panorama car, etc.) and hit “buy a ticket”. The next screen will give you a chance to choose “only reservation” from a drop-down menu, and class of travel (1st or 2d class). It will show a caution that “a ticket is required” but proceed anyway (you don’t need one). The next screen will show you a diagram of the train car and direction of travel, and seats available in green. Choose your seat, put it in the cart and proceed to the payment page to pay the 9 CHF for the reservation.
