Golden Pass Express Route

Hi, we have Eurail Pass and Eurail website showing the Goldenpass Express is included in our pass and showing the route from Montreux to Lucerne, but on the Goldenpass Express website, the route/timetable shows only Montreux to Interlaken.

We are traveling from Lucerne to Interlaken and would like to take the scenic train if it is available.

It is the Luzern-Interlaken Express you want. It is part of the Golden Pass train excursion route. The Golden Pass Express is a special train that runs between Montreux and Interlaken. It has dual carriage bogies so it can operate on both meter gauge and standard gauge tracks. It does not go to Luzern.

you may not know but all direct trains, fancy tourist ones and regular frequent local ones go on the same scenic route between Montreux and Interlaken use the same tracks and get the same views. Just that the fancy one does not have to change trains in Zweisimmen because it can adjust to the wider gauge and continue. But you still have to change in Interlaken Ost. All trains on the line between Interlaken Ost and Luzern are identical and all have a panoramic roof.

The line was washed out at Brienz a couple of months ago and replaced by a bus. I haven't checked if the repairs to the train line are complete.

When is your trip?
