Going to Switzerland for summer Skiing plus more

We want to visit in late spring. We are thinking end of May or first half of June 2017. We want to spend 8-10 days in Switzerland. We want to go to Zermatt for some summer ish skiing, visit bern, visit Interlaken and Zurich for sure. Also some other things in between, but the things in between we are open to suggestions. Can some of the experts help us with the details.

Best time between middle of May and End of June to come ?

How we could optimize our trip based on the key areas we want to visit?

Best way to find cheap flights from USA? Any travel deals we could take advantage of ?

I know this may be slightly open ended inquiry... but we are open to suggestions from those who are familiar with the country.

If you want to ski, the earlier you go, the better. With the earth getting warmer, who know how long before summer skiing in Zermatt becomes only a memory?

It is glacier skiing in Zermatt during the summer. Summer Glacier skiing is pretty tame as the glaciers are relatively flat. Otherwise they would have crevasses which we all know are not good for the skiing. Anyway, they have a six-pac high speed chair with all the support towers bolted into the ice with adjustable bases so they can reset the alignment as the ice slowly moves. Best skiing is first thing in the morning until it starts to get very sticky after noon. If you go mid May, there may still be some regular pistes still open.

Never skied there in the summer, but I did do a glacier on July 4 at Les Deux Alpes in France.

There are direct flights on Swiss to Zurich out of Miami. You might also look at Air Berlin out of Orlando to Zurich, with a plane change in Berlin.

I've recently learned we can ski in jungfrau as well in the summer. Anyone with experience doing that ?

I've seen snowboarders up there but there's not a lot of skinny skiing. There is one bunny slope. Is that your level or are you looking for more black diamond stuff?
