Going from Fussen Germany to Lauterbrunnen Switzerland by train - I need help

My husband, daughter and I are going from Fussen Germany to Lauterbrunnen ( Murren) Switzerland by train - I need help on how to accomplish this. We will be dropping our car off in Fussen and from there we will be spending 10 days in Switzerland and using our Swiss pass. Should we take some short train from Fussen Germany just into the first town in Switzerland and then start using our Swiss Pass which covers most of the trains in Switzerland?

Where would i find the train schedules out of Fussen?

How long is the train ride between Fussen and Murren by train? If i leave early in the morning will it be enough time catch the train up the mountain to sleep in Murren that night?

Is there a mobile app for Swiss trains that is helpful once I get to Switzerland?

The train times from Füssen to Mürren (note spelling in both cases) can be found in either the DB (German Railways) website: https://www.bahn.com/en/view/index.shtml
Or the SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) site: https://www.sbb.ch/en/

Enter from: Füssen, to: Mürren, departure date and time. It takes about 9 hours with many changes.
SBB has a very good app, which will also give you these times. Search for "SBB Mobile".

Your Swiss pass will be valid from the first Swiss station. On this route that is usually St. Margrethen, see the mapp theat comes with the pass. You will need to buy an additional ticket from Füssen to St. Margrethen.

Thank you! This is very helpful. I am assuming there is no need to reserve a seat on the Swiss Train. Do you think I should buy my ticket from Fussen ( Sorry about the spelling - key board issue) to the first stop in Switzerland?

Natique, You do not need to reserve a seat on Swiss trains, except for the 4 tourist extra trains (Glacier Express etc.). And in 95% of the trains it is not even possible to reserve seats.
Yes, you should buy a ticket from Füssen to the Swiss border. In Germany, it is recommended to reserve seats in IC and ICE trains, they can get full, but reservations are not usually possible on other trains. If you buy an advance purchase ticket which is only valid on a specified train, the ticket includes the reservation.

The DB and SBB websites are good at guessing wrongly spelled names. If you enter Fussen it will offer Füssen as an option.
Other sites (and Google searches) may not be so smart. You could copy-paste, or use the alternative spelling Fuessen.
