I know that a reservation and a ticket for the Glacier Express are not the same thing. I have a reservation for the Glacier Express (1st class), and a Swiss Travel Pass (2nd class) for the day I am traveling on the Glacier Express. I paid a fee for the 1st class seat when I made the reservation. But I know that the reservation/fee does not count as my ticket. Does the Swiss Travel Pass work as my ticket? Or do I need an additional or alternate ticket for the Glacier Express? If so, where/how do I get that ticket? I think the Swiss Travel pass covers at least a portion of the ticket? So confused. Thank you!!
If you have a 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass and a 1st class seat reservation, you will have to buy an upgrade ticket.
I don't know how to do that offhand, but you might start by asking them with the contact form.
https://www.rhb.ch/en/contact/contact-form
Or at [email protected]
You can upgrade your ticket/Pass here—see day class upgrade
or if it’s easier, just go to the train station the day before and let them know you have a 2nd class swiss travel pass, but would like to travel 1st class on the Glacier Express. They will give you what you need.
You can even buy the class upgrade on board. So just get on the train, find your seat, and pay the upgrade when the conductor comes. Price of the upgrade with a Swiss Travel Pass is 1/2 the difference between a normal 2nd and 1st class ticket.
Thank you to everyone who helped me with this question! I think I've got it now.
