Glacier Express reservations - website problems

The Glacier Express site has been having technical issues for the past few days. It's been difficult/impossible to purchase reservations online for newly released tickets in September. Purchasing reservations for other months online seems to work fine, but not for tickets released in the past few days. A workaround is to call the reservation line. This morning I called four times -- the first three times the system timed out and disconnected me after about 5 minutes. The fourth time I got through and was able to purchase a reservation. Don't give up!

Another workaround is to pretend you want to purchase reservations for August 25. Then use the Right Arrow beside the Dates to move forward in time until you see your desired date. Then select your train on your date. You should now see available seats to reserve and you should be able to select one and move forward with your purchase.

Thank you for sharing!! I've been having trouble trying to get reservations online for September. It seems the website is working better today, but it is still telling me there are no seats available on 9/14 (even when I start with August 27 and tab over to September 14). Maybe I should try calling? Are there other seats available that don't display online?

I'm sorry, I wish I had more information. I would probably call. The agent told me on Sunday that sometimes there are extra tickets available day-of when people holding reservations are a no-show. Then the seats are resold. I didn't ask the reservation agent for details as to how this works. Good luck, I hope you are successful.

Regarding September 14, of course you can call them to ask, but I suspect the tickets you want are all sold out. You don't mention what start/end points you want. For my test from St. Moritz to Zermatt, I see that I can reserve second class seats, but first class is sold out. I'm not surprise that 1st class is sold out. They have been available for a couple weeks now and they can sell out fast some times. Perhaps a large tour company bought them all. If that date is fixed in stone for you, you may need to grab second class seats or ride on the "regular" trains that follow the same route (which has a few change of trains to be done).
