Glacier Express reservation issue

Hello !

Has anyone had problems with a seat reservation for a special train? I’m not sure if this IS a problem but I’m concerned about not getting a confirmation. Several days ago I bought 2 seats for our day of travel, received a reservation number, and the price immediately was charged to my credit card; however, I’ve received no hard copy to print out or add to my Apple wallet. Seems like I should have something to show to the conductor. Is this the usual procedure? I immediately received the info to print for my purchase of the STP.

Are you using a Swiss Travel Pass and you just paid for the reservation for seats? And got a confirmation on the screen showing the seat and carriage number? Then no worries—-the conductor doesn’t check seat reservations unless there is a dispute over who belongs in the seat. Just board the correct carriage and find your reserved seats. They likely will be marked with a tag somewhere to show they are reserved for you. And if there is any question, you have the reservation number.

Lola, I did not get a confirmation on line, just a 10 numeral order number. I don’t even remember the exact seats I chose because there were only 4 left for our day of travel and I was so shocked that I choose the only 2 together and quickly placed the order before someone else snagged them.

I received a confirmation with printing instructions when ordering our STPs and expected the same for the seat reservations.

Emily, did you check your email’s junk email or spam folders? If the confirmation is not there, I’d email whoever you purchased the reservation from. Let me know if you need help finding the contact info. I’m good at finding those things. 😊

I also did not receive an automatic email when I reserved, so I wrote to them (info@glacierexpress.ch) with my order # and received an email response from them which included an attachment of a printable reservation confirmation with QR code.

Thanks so much for your kind replies. I did check my junk mailbox, I did send an enquiry but I suppose because it was a weekend I didn’t get a response. However, I’m happy to report that I received a confirmation email, with a QR code today, along with a nice reply wishing me a pleasant journey. Whew! So, I believe all ducks are in a row for our upcoming trip to beautiful Switzerland. Can’t wait!

Can I ask which website/app you use to purchase seat reservations for the special trains? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

PJ, Go to www.glacierexpress.com to book your reservation. Fill in as though you’re buying tickets but when you reach the point of entering names, tap “ reduction” and it will allow you to to choose seats and pay only for the reservation charge. There’s an excellent description of how to do this on the webpage, www.themaninseat61.com. I’d do this as soon as you know your travel date. I didn’t do it right away thinking I might want to change my day of travel and ended up getting 2 of the last 4 seats available on my travel date. Happy travels!
