Glacier Express and Saver Day Pass Reservation Questions

Hi I have a multi-part (related) question re trains for my mid-September trip:
1. Any tips on how to get Glacier Express seat reservations? Do the new tickets for the next available day release at midnight Switzerland time? I've been practicing on the website at different times and they always seem sold out immediately.

  1. If I have a Saver Day Pass for a particular day, can I just ride any GA covered trains that day w/o buying or reserving anything else?

  2. Can I purchase a seat reservation with a Saver Day Pass? If so, how? Every time I go to SBB.ch to try to make a seat reservation only for my Zermatt to Brig journey (which is on a day I have a Saver Day Pass), it only allows me purchase a ticket and I see no drop down to choose a seat reservation only option.
Thank you in advance for any help, I love this forum and it has been a lifesaver in my trip planning! <3

Glacier express reservations are made here, not on SBB, and Can be made 93 days before the date of travel

I have never taken the Glacier Express but have traveled from Zermatt to Brig many times, no reservation necessary as long as you don’t get on the Glacier Express train (which only runs at certain times of the day - regular trains run every half hour).

You can only get seat reservations on IC level and above trains. So this is why you cannot reserve for Zermatt - Brig, as that is a regional train. Very few people actually bother with reservations on domestic trains, but that may change as trains are getting more crowded.

Where are you going from Brig? If going to Italy your SDP (or other pass) actually covers you till Domodossola.

It looks like the Glacier Express leaves Zermatt at 7:52, 8:52, 9:52. All other trains will be regional trains that you can just get on.
