We (a family of 3) are about to book a trip from Brig to Chur aboard the Glacier Express. Should we go 1st or 2nd class? The current price for our date for 1st class is 135 CHF, and for 2nd class is 77 CHF; our 14 year old is free with the Swiss Family Card. Then we have the reservation fee of 33 CHF per person.

If you are going this summer, there is a benefit to taking first class. It can be crowded in second class. This way you will all be able to sit together at a table.
I'd like to know what the differences are between 1st and 2nd class.
Janet, in general, 2nd class has 4 seats in a row - 2 on each side of the aisle. 1st class has 3 per row - 2 on one side and 1 on the other. More width and leg room. That's pretty much it. It's not like the airlines where you get food and wine in 1st class. Not sure if you get anything extra in 1st class on the GE. We were in second class and it was just fine.
