Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Gimmelwald, Switzerland to Saltzburg, Austria?

Train to Zurich, then train to Salzburg. 8 1/2 hours.

And though they mine salt there— the city is named “Salzburg” which means “Salt Mountain.”

You should be able to buy a ticket Interlaken - Salzburg on www.sbb.ch. Gimmelwald - Interlaken you just buy locally...
Note: Salzburg means "salt castle". The German word for mountain is "berg"...
