We had the hotel arrange a cab. It was painfully early. Good luck! The hotel packed a brown bag breakfast for us.

You shouldn't have any issues. We did this last October for a similar departure, needing to get to VIE from within Innere Stadt lodgings (Hotel Kaiserhof Wien sits just south of that district ['bezirk'], in Wieden). Takes about 25 minutes that time of morning. Your hotel can contact and arrange for Taxi (would suggest asking them to set everything up the night before). Don't be surprised when you get to the airport that not much is open, our KLM counter personnel appeared at exactly the minute the opening hours' reflected.

If your flight leaves at 7:15, I would suggest that it would be prudent to arrive quite some time before that. If your flight is domestic (within Schengen), then arriving 2 hours earlier is recommended. 3 hours for long haul flights. Check with your airline to see when it opens its counters in the morning. Remember that early morning is a very busy time, and you need to allow sufficient time for possibly long security lines, as well as Passport Control if leaving the Schengen zone.

That early in the morning, traffic shouldn't be a problem. As suggested, have your hotel call a taxi, for pick up half an hour before you need to arrive at the airport.

The lines for security at the Vienna airport are exceptionally efficient and take about 5-10 minutes, consistently. There are no US-bound flights at 7:15 am from Vienna and the only flights at that time are within Europe. With that information, I assume that you will be flying to somewhere in Europe (I'm guessing Nice or Palermo). That means no passport control. If you check-in online in advance and are either dropping your bag or carrying on a bag, you really need to arrive by 5:45 - 6:00. It takes 20 minutes at that hour to reach the airport from Vienna. Leaving at 5:30 should be fine from your hotel. There is absolutely no reason to arrive 2-3 hours before you depart - no one will even be at the airport at that time.
