Geneva - Interlaken - Florence

Hi

Thinking of getting 5 days Euro Rail Pass to travel Geneva to Interlaken on Golden pass and then through Milan and Florence.
In Interlaken, I am thinking of getting Jungfrau pass so we can go to different places in the mountain.. Is this redundant?

From Geneva, we need to get to Montreux to get be on Golden pass in the morning, I think taking a taxi (expensive!) or train? Which is better?

In Interlaken, have 3 days, what are the must places to visit?

thanks
Susan

Interlaken is a transit hub so don’t stay there! Stay in charming and scenic Grindelwald! We spent a week there, charming, scenic, large enough to have choices of dining and lodging.

Don't get the Eurail Pass. For Switzerland get the Half Fare Card, as you obviously plan a lot of mountain excursions. The HFC gives you a 50% discount on those, and all public transit.

The obvious way to get to Montreux to catch the Golden Pass is by train. Taking a taxi will not be faster, just more expensive.
Use www.sbb.ch to plan your trips. For eg. Geneva - Grindelwald via the Golden Pass route just enter Saanen as a VIA point

Then to get to Florence just book Grindelwald (or wherever you are staying) to Florence asgain on www.sbb.ch.

Taking a train will be the best option. Comfortable, fast, and with scenic views over Lake Geneva. The whole ride is around 80 minutes if you get on the train that stops almost everywhere on the itinerary. The fastest will have only 2 stops before Montreux and will get there in 65 minutes. Enjoy!
