Hi,
We'll be arriving on an inter-continental flight to Geneva International Airport early morning. We'd like to spend some time in a day use hotel after we arrive to freshen up, etc. Our plan is to then visit CERN for a few hours, then back to hotel to pick up luggage and continue on our journey to Montreux. We're looking for recommendations for a hotel location that will minimize our travel time on shuttles, trams, trains between airport, hotel, CERN, hotel, train station to Montreux. I'm not sure if its best to stay near the airport or near the main Geneva train station. Any thoughts?
I'd stay near the airport, as most trains heading toward Montreaux will pass through Geneva Airport station.
The Ibis and Nash hotels close to the airport are super convenient (a quick walk to things, or a short taxi ride) if you want to be close. Not sure they offer day rates but worth inquiry.
Failing to find a day-use hotel, there are showers in the arrival areas at Geneva Airport, and you can store luggage at the airport train station lockers. There are direct trains to Montreux from the airport train station 2 times every hour at 14 and 55 past the hour.
