Another question: What do people suggest for dealing with the heat wave in Geneva and Lausanne ? Do the trains or buses have air conditioning?

Yes, trains and busses have AC, so do shopping malls. Thankfully the nighttime temps are sinking lower again and we are no longer technically in a heat wave as a result.
Higher elevations are cooler, so if you have any mountain excursions planned that will be great.
