I assume you guys have heard about the hell that is now Geneva airport?
Not just Geneva....
Long lines in Zurich Airport last week as well.
The new machines that are supposed to collect your biometric data as part of
EES implementation are situated before passport control, and you can either
avoid it for now and stand in a long line for manual passport entry, or, try and
get your data entered into the system and then enter via a shorter line. But
the machines are finicky, and there is not a lot of help available if, as most people
did, you end up confused and unsuccessful in using the machine.
Saturdays, especially starting this coming Saturday, are peak transit days for
European ski resorts. More horror stories are likely to result.
Geneva was already airport hell on Saturdays during ski season. I can't imagine now.
hey hey phred
thanks for article. haven't traveled in europe for 4 years, family and my own medical issues along with covid. we were in geneva then private taxi to annecy which was great, not many issues. but have things changed so much, not only in europe it's all over. read an article "is europe drowning with tourists" (bloomberg.com)
reading up on posts i can't believe zurich, geneva, lucerne, barcelona, naples and of course other cities is so crazy nowdays. i snicker at how many people want to stay away from crowds during high seasons, but it seems that high season is all year long and want cheap/budget accomodations/tours but want to stay in city center. ha ha
i'm from the big island of hawaii, was a quiet place but now OMG!!! traffic is bumper to bumper, the phenomenon of kilauea volcano
erupting so many times since november so many flying over to see it for a weekend or few days, weather is so cold/windy/raining now snowing up on mauna kea mountain. enjoy your vacations and deal with the crowds everyone
aloha
We will be flying out of Zurich to the US on a Monday mid April. Should we be at the airport more than 3 hours ahead with these new procedures in place or is just when you land in Europe the problem?
