Would we be able to use the Swiss travel pass when buying tickets going into Switzerland? Or just don't count this day in our count for travel. Thanks!!! Figuring out these train passes really require a lot of brain power!

You only get credit for the portion of the ticket inside Switzerland. Coming from Fuessen, that would be from St Margrethen to Zurich.

No if you are on any public transport within the Swiss border you have to pay for it - either buy a ticket or take it on your Swiss pass.
