Furka Pass and Piz Gloria Day Trip

My wife and I will be in Lucerne for a couple of days in July. We're big fans of 007 and would like to visit the Goldfinger filming locations in Furka Pass and the Piz Gloria location from Her Majesty's Secret Service (which we realize is only accessible via cableway). Is visiting both locations by automobile and returning to Lucerne in a day be feasible? We have never been to the area and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Piz Gloria is called the Schilthorn. If you're coming from Lucerne you should really do it all by train. Lucerne --> Interlaken --> Lauterbrunnen, then option to either take a bus down the valley to Stechelberg where you'll get on the cable car that takes you all the way up to the Schilthorn OR from Lauterbrunnen you take the cable car up to Gruschalp, train to Murren, walk through the village (10 minutes) to the cable car up to the Schilthorn. I can't speak to the Furka Pass but from Lucerne what I just mentioned is a full day trip so I wouldn't add anything else on.

When doing the Schilthorn, you can spend a couple hours at the top enjoying everything up there, go down the cable car one stop to do the Birg Thrill walk, down another stop to the car free village of Murren to walk around there and then down another stop to the lovely car free village of Gimmelwald. All of this is more than enough to occupy a day.

Check the live web cams before you go to see if the view is ok that day as you don't want to go up when it's all in clouds. Typically better views are earlier in the morning, it tends to cloud over in the afternoon so if you do all this, go up to the Schilthorn first and then make your way back down to the other parts I mentioned afterwards.

Enjoy!! And make sure to check out the bathrooms :)

Thank you, Kristyn, for your kind advice on the Piz Gloria. We suspected that the logistics of a Schilthorn ascent would consume most of a day. Do you have any insights on driving the Furka Pass?
