From Zermatt to Berner Oberland: Murren, Interlaken, or Lauterbrunnen?

We will have 7 nights total in Switzerland, arriving from Varenna Italy. Our 1st night will be spent in St. Moritz, after taking the Bernina Express train from Torino. The second and third nights will be in Zermatt, after taking the Glacier Express from St. Moritz.

From Zermatt I'd like to head to the Berner Oberland region for two more nights. We will have the Swiss Travel Pass. I'm trying to decide where to book our hotel for those two nights. We really want to visit Jungfraujoch and the other vistas. With just two nights available, should we stay in Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken or Murren? I know Murren is very highly recommended, but will staying there involve too much travelling?

From the Berner Oberland we will head to the Lausanne region for our last two nights, and from there on to Paris.

I recommend staying in Lauterbrunnen. Interlaken is too far, too big. Muerren is very nice, but if your primary goal is the Jungfraujoch, coming from Muerren add some time to the travel. Since you are only there 2 nights, make it easy and stay in Lauterbrunnen. FYI, have a backup plan in case the weather at the Jungfraujoch doesn't cooperate. Not worth the expense if it's socked in.

2 nights is not much time. You'll transit through Interlaken to get to Lauterbrunnen. Murren is hugely desirable. But with only 2 nights + Jungfrau trip that doesn't leave much time for walking through the village and taking in the magnificent scenery. Have you considered the Schilthorn trip from Murren instead of the Jungfrau. It's much cheaper and MUCH short, but still takes you to the top for some really dramatic views.

Thanks, I've booked a hotel in Lauterbrunnen for the two nights.
