Free transit from Basel to Germany

We'll be staying in Basel. I know our hotel gave us a transit pass for the number of days we'll be staying. On Google Maps, I see an Aldi supermarket next to the Banhof/Zentrum tram stop in Weil am Rhein, Germany. My question is: can I use the free transit pass provided by the hotel to get there and back on tram 8?

No. From this website, find the following quote: https://www.basel.com/en/baselcard

The BaselCard is not valid for the trip to the Vitra Design Museum, to France or to the Reigoldswil-Wasserfallen cable car, as these destinations are outside of the travel zone covered by the card.

The Vitra Design Museum is a short walk from Weil am Rhein Bahnhof/Zentrum. So you cannot travel into Germany or France for free on the Basel Card, even if the trams go there. You can buy a ticket though.

I should add that the airport, which is in France, is an exception.
