It would help to have some idea what types of sights you're interested in seeing? Also, what type of budget are you working with?
Your profile doesn't indicate where you're located, but if you have access to the RS Switzerland guidebook, there are lots of good sightseeing suggestions there. If not available in your local Library or book stores, you should be able to download the E-book version of the guidebook in Kindle or iBooks format.
First, if you’re there on September 7-8, check out the Jungfrau Marathon activities. We cheered the runners as they ran through Wengen and then headed up the mountain for the finale and activities.
Activities: take the cable car up to Mannlichen and hike over to Kleine Scheidegg to take the train back to Wengen. You can also take the train further up into the Jungfrau.
You can also take the train down to Lauterbrunnen and hike on the other side or take the cable car up to the Schilthorn. There’s also the Trummelbach internal Falls that are interesting to walk through.
The weather can make a big difference. Grab any sunny day to go up the mountains - Jungfrau and Schilthorn. Visit Mürren or other villages, etc. rainy or cloudy weather, save for things like Trummlebach Falls (mostly inside). Its good to have flexibility, and with mountain top camera views on TV, you can know exactly what's going on.
I will be visiting from Sep-16-20 and staying in Hotel Silberhorn . Should I use train to go some where? Should I use train pass etc to travel from Wengen. I am reading/reviews to know more about thsi area and want to cover major good attractions during 4-5 days.
You'll need to use trains or cable cars to get anywhere in that area, including getting to Wengen. It would be helpful to have more information on your Itinerary, such as where you're travelling from prior to Wengen? The question of whether to use one of the Swiss passes or not is always a difficult one to answer, as it depends on the specifics of each situation. You may find this helpful - https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/switzerland-rail-passes .
In terms of other sightseeing in the area, you'll find a lot of information in the RS Switzerland guidebook. Here's a link to the Kindle version, which can be read on just about any device - https://www.amazon.com/Rick-Steves-Switzerland-ebook/dp/B017QL9QS2 . You haven't provided any information on your interests or what you'd like to see in that area, so it's difficult to make specific suggestions. I don't know what you consider the "major good attractions"?
Ken has given you the best advice: get the Rick Steves guide as he covers the area beautifully. It would be almost impossible for us to give you all the info you need to enjoy this area. It’s is not about “attractions” per se, but scenic beauty, walks in the mountains, riding on lifts and cog railways. Get the book and all will be clear.
Hello Kenny,
It's is funny I will be in Wengen from the 16-20 Sepember also. It is my third time there and I can tell you it will not disappoint you. We are staying in the Alpenrose, a wonderful family owned hotel with great staff that will give you many options. Not to miss is the Mannlichen cable car which you get right in the village. Once at the top you can take the hike over Klein Schediidegg it is only one mile and a half but the views are to die for. On another day take it over to Grindelwald - little touristy but you can go to Pfinstegg and ride the alpine slide. There are numerous trails to hike and the other side of the valley takes you up to the Schilthorn and Piz Gloria. Hope this helps and maybe I will see you there.
Clarifying--
take the hike over Klein Schediidegg it is only one mile and a half
That hike is 2 1/2 miles long. (spelled Kleine Scheidegg)
