We found a flight that goes from LAX to Florence but with a connection through Zurich. Flight would be in August (so I realize rules could change by then). Does anyone know the Covid rules for transferring planes in Switzerland currently? Thanks.

Whatever the rules are now, they will change by September. Be patient and keep an eye on what the Swiss consult and the airline says about transferring through Zurich. I’m planning to visit Lucerne in July but am keenly aware that those plans can change any time.

You need to enroll in STEP in travel.stat.gov. Here’s what it says for CH but STEP will keep you current: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/Switzerland.html.
