flex pass upgrade

Purchasing the 15 day flex for our trip and was trying to decide on which class. I know on some of our train routes we will want the upgrade. When i check sbb website, under discounts, it does not list the stp pass.
Also, it says this:
If you have a 2nd class ticket, a Day Pass or a GA Travelcard, a class upgrade allows you to travel in 1st class.
Now I am assuming that the STP is considered the 2nd class ticket (if you buy that one).
But half fare card discount on the upgrade is obviously cheaper. Is that the discount I want or do I indicate no discount which is more. If all of my routes are no discount than it really is cheaper to just buy 1st class pass.

I am aware that buying the half fare card overall is cheaper, but I have researched and this just seems to make more sense.
Thanks, as always, for all your help.

Up to you and your spreadsheet. You can always buy a class upgrade, which is simply the difference between a full fare 1st class ticket for that route and a full fare 2nd class ticket. If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, a Half Fare Card would be redundant.

A 2d class STP = a 2d class GA Travelcard. Same coverage and same upgrade cost.

HI. perhaps I did not phrase my question correctly. I am not going to get the STP and half fare card. Looking at 2nd class STP flex but when I go to upgrading a specific route, I pick the date/time and my info to purchase as a guest and it has a drop down for discount. My options are half fare or no discount. Am I correct in assuming that a STP flex tix is considered a no discount for upgrade? I cannot send any links. one train I am looking at (among others) is montreaux to zermatt on 9/20/23at nooninsh (cant remember exact time). Thanks for your help.
