My husband & I are flying into Munich, arriving this Friday, 7:10am. We have never been to Switzerland & are looking for travel ideas for a relatively short trip. Thinking to train in and stay maybe 2 different locations or one location (Lucerne?) and a day trip or two from there. As the weather is cold, we thought sightseeing via train would be a good way to explore this time of year. Looking into the STP also to determine if it is worth it. Flying out of Munich Wednesday, March 8, 10:20am so will probably spend Tuesday in Munich. Any ideas?
Even to Lucerne you are looking at a 6 hour train journey. Other ideas:
Tour bus to Schloss Neuschwanstein.
Train to G-P, then up Zugspitz.
You can daytrip those out of Munich with ease. Heck, Salzburg & Innsbruck are daytrips. But I like my first ideas better.
Good luck!
If you really want to visit Switzerland, go for it! Sounds like you only have three days. Lucerne would be a good location. You can make some day trips from there.
