My son would love to do these when we are there end of July. Understand you can no longer book a time/tickets in advance? We were going to do them one afternoon. Some Qs:
Do I just turn up and queue for tickets?
Do I have to then use them immediately or could I queue in the morning and then use them later that day?

No doubt you’ve seen this site https://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/grindelwaldfirst/first-mountain-cart/. There are no fixed time slots. Probably best to buy your tickets at the base station so you have them when you get off the lift. I have seen wait time posted so you’ll have an idea. Riding up in the cabe car kills some time you’d otherwise spend in line.
