Just curious if anyone has had experience with First Flyer & trotti bike in Grindelwald? The website is pretty vague on location and wondering if First Flyer has a store front in Grindelwald or do you purchase at gondola? My wife is a little hesitant about the downhill bike ride. She bikes daily in Florida, but our biggest hill is our driveway. Any responses on First Flyer and/or bike experience would be greatly appreciated.
We did both a couple of years ago. I bought a lift ticket/trotti/flyer package from the ticket office/entrance at the bottom of the First lift. I was hesitant about the trotti bikes too (will it be too steep? will I get lost? is it safe?) But those worries were gone right away. It was so much fun that we did it twice.
Thanks so much for your response. We are looking forward to the trip. You really helped to put our mind at ease.
Our family did both the First Flieger and the Trotti bikes last week. It was the highlight of our Swiss vacation. We had hotel reservations at Berghaus Bort, which is the first stop after boarding the gondola from Firstbahn. You rent the Trotti bikes at Bort. Simple to operate, just stand on it and maintain balance. If you can ride a bicycle you can easily maintain your balance on a Trotti bike. It is nothing more than a skate board with handlebars and brakes. You just coast downhill for the 30 minute ride to Grindlewald and return it back at Firstbahn.
First Flieger you pay for right at the boarding station, just a short walk from the last gondola stop at First. It is an 800 meter cable zip line that takes you from First to Shreckfeld. There are 4 zip lines so four people can go at the same time. Only the anticipation is scary. The ride itself is awesome. Be sure to do both on a clear day to maximize the beauty of your adventure
