First class v second class on Swiss trains

What is the difference? I read somewhere that Swiss second class was not that difference. Are the chairs larger? Traveling with a 70 year old who has knee problems that limit her mobility.

Also, how do you search to see if the topic has been discussed previously? This forum has 144 pages. I read the first three. I could not find a search bar or icon.
Thanks

If you're accessing the forum on a tablet or phone, you will find the search field on the drop down menu - click on the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner.

If you accessing the Forums on a laptop or desktop, at the top of each page, just to the right of the big blue square (Rick Steves' Europe on dark blue over About Rick on light blue) there is a magnifying glass and the word Search.

Type your search term in the grey box and hit enter.

The words in the search are ORed (not ANDed) so you get results with any of the words or part words. Keep the search simple. When the results come up you can click on filtering to the Forums, and then the time period you want results for. You can limit it to as close as the last 6 months.

What you can't do is limit it to a particular Forum, it is across the Forums.

Some people use a google search that can be more tight.

I find that second class is very comfortable for me on Swiss trains.
Safe travels!

I find second to be very close to business class on the airlines. Seats are physically bigger. In 2nd class the seating is XX -- XX and in first class X -- XX. I don't find the space between seats (front to back) that much greater. For the most part we find 2nd to be very comfortable. Will go to 1st if price difference is small. 1st is quieter simply because there are few people and sometimes you get an extra perk with first.

These days it does not make a heap of a difference in terms of seat size. I'm retired now, but back in the day I used to travel by Swiss train everyday for work and in those days there was a big difference in seat size and leg room. However in the newer commuter trains there is very little difference in terms of seat size and the difference in leg room is not so different you'd notice [I measured it!].

Also keep in mind that company cars are not a thing over here and many company provide workers with an annual ticket for public transport instead. So first class is often very occupied during rush hours.
