First class lounges in train stations

Was perusing Mr. Man in Seat 61's site, he has an amazing amount of info. Stumbled onto this and was not aware:

"At Zurich Hauptbahnhof the SBB lounge is open 07:00-20:00, located upstairs near the restaurant Au Premier, follow signs for SBB Lounge. Open to holders of any international 1st class ticket including 1st class railpasses but not Swiss domestic tickets. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks available. There is a similar SBB lounge at Geneva open 07:00-20:00 on the 1st floor directly above the ticket office, although here it's reported that 1st class railpass holders are not admitted. To check opening times and other details see www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/railpasses/ga/sbb-lounge.html."

phred,

Thanks for posting about that, as I wasn't aware of the lounges. Unfortunately, I almost never use first class tickets so I would be one of the "riff-raff" and not eligible to use the lounge.

I have used the various lounges often when traveling by train. The small diference in price of 1st vs 2nd when booked far enough in adavance makes it worthwhile to have a nice snack and drink (or 3) before getting on the train.

Yes I use the Zurich one once or twice a week... however I can't recall seeing any snacks - drinks yes but no snacks.

One other tip, the most obvious access point is via a spiral staircase!!! To find the elevator (or Lift as we call it) you need to go in via the side entrance of Pizzeria Atrio. Yes it marked, but is not easily spotted if there are a few people hanging around the door way as there often is.

It also varies from country to country whether or not rail passes get you into these lounges. If traveling with a pass, check all the materials that come with it for a few nice surprises like this.
