Feedback from recent travelers to Switzerland please

Hello, I recently returned from a glorious trip to Italy, which was relatively easy-peasy. Tested within 72 hours of arrival, and used a copy of my CDC white card to show proof of vaccination at entry to museums with no problems. Now on to planning my next trip. I have airline reservations to fly to Zurich, stay for 10 days, and fly out of Geneva in March. I have started researching my trip, and it seems much more cumbersome than traveling to Italy. From what I can tell, a copy of my CDC vaccination card will not be acceptable, and I will need to apply for a Swiss Covid Certificate, which can take a week, and costs 30 swiss franc upon application. I would appreciate hearing from American citizens who recently traveled from the states to Switzerland about the requirements and your experience. Many thanks in advance.

Given how often the rules change because of rising and declining infections I would not be planning based recent experiences for a trip in March 2022. I was in Italy and Switzerland last August and at the time entering Switzerland was just proof of vaccination. I needed a test and proof of vaccination to enter Italy at the time.

I was in Switzerland in Sept. and for entry the CDC card and entry form was needed. A week after I was over there, they introduced the covid certificate and the CDC card was not accepted for restaurants.

As Jazz stated, it is too early to know what will be required for March. I’d start checking a month or two before you leave. I do not consider needing to apply for a certificate to be a big deal. But no one knows if one will be required in March. I found traveling in Switzerland to be super easy despite Covid. I have another trip planned for June and will not start to think about the requirements until April. And even then, I’ll have to keep checking for any changes. To me, Switzerland is worth it. You just have to be patient and flexible these days.

I was just in Switzerland 9/15 through 10/1. It was delightful……they readily accepted my CDC vac card along with my passport assuring I was correctly the person on the vac card. In only 1 place were we turned down for lunching indoors….and that was because the Swiss Covid certificate i had downloaded had a huge Swiss cross in the center of the code and the waiter’s phone would not read it…….went back to the hotel and correctly downloaded the right one and all was well. I think by March procedures will be improved and you can freely travel there……pure joy to get outside with no mask and hike and hear the cow bells everywhere……a great country to resume our international travels in!

I’m currently in Switzerland and have been here 10 days. Masks are a must but I haven’t been asked for my cdc card or my Swiss QR code.
