We are going to be in the Alps in late September this year. What are your favorite hotels there?
I’ve stayed at the Hotel Schönegg in 2024 and 2022.
We stayed at hotel Baren in 2025 for a week - and it was a highlight of our trip for everyone in my family. We had two adjoining rooms for our family of four (two adult children) with a view down into the valley . The half board/ kitchen was amazing (we would talk about the menu offerings we would choose while out hiking we so looked forward to our meals!) and the staff couldn’t be kinder. I believe they are doing a major renovation (either currently or completed) so you’d want to check on that.
I booked 3 nights at the Schonegg in Wengen. The Baren it looks like is closed for the season?
Be glad you don’t have to go up and down that steep hill to get to and from the baren. -:)
When you take the nice easy walk to the schonegg, walk past the front with all the stairs and go in the side door to reception.
Thank you Carrie!
I bet it’s the renovation that is the reason they are closed . I’ve heard great things about Schoenegg on this forum. Enjoy!
We stayed at the Maya Caprice in 2024 and 2025. Two minute walk from the train station. Spent a lot of time on the balcony looking at the most beautiful valley in the world.
My partner and I just got back from a five night stay at Hotel Schoenegg. Breakfast was included in our rate, and was definitely worth it. The staff will chill, open, and provide glasses for wine you purchase off property which came in handy for a take out pizza we had on our balcony one night. Our room was without a doubt on the “cozy” side so having the balcony was nice when we were in the room. I don’t think you can beat the views or flat walk from the train station.
