Our family of 9--young adults to grandparents , are renting house on Lake Maggiore in Minusio, Switzerland for a week starting June 25. We fly into Milan, then drive to the house. Are Zermatt and Lucerne reasonable destinations for longer days? Any other suggestions for destinations? Thanks!
Are you talking about driving or taking trains? Assume you have at least 2 cars.
My family and I are planning a trip to Minusio, Switzerland in June 2026, and we’re really excited to explore the area around Lake Maggiore. We’ll be traveling with both kids and older family members, so we’re looking for a mix of relaxing activities, scenic spots, and easy day trips nearby.
I’d love recommendations for:
Family-friendly restaurants or cafés
Easy sightseeing areas with beautiful lake views
Local transportation tips around Minusio and Locarno
Good places for evening walks or quiet relaxation
Any hidden gems that tourists usually miss
While planning the trip online, I’ve been using different travel and community platforms to organize ideas and connect with other travelers. I recently came across Xyli (ไซไล) on Fiwfan and found it interesting how niche online communities are becoming more popular for sharing travel experiences and recommendations.
If anyone has visited Minusio during summer, I’d really appreciate advice about weather, family activities, or nearby attractions worth adding to our itinerary.
Thanks in advance!

With cars, you might spend time exploring the Valle Verzasca and Valle Maggia, just north of Minusio.
