Family of 5 stay one night in Switzerland

Hi,
I am planning a family trip to Europe this summer. We fly into Frankfurt, stay a couple of nights in Rothenburg, 2 in Salzburg, and drive to Beune, France and onto Paris.
I would greatly appreciate some suggestions (low cost) on staying near Zurich....does not have to be in the city, just somewhere around that area. I can not believe how difficult it is to book hotel, or B&B for 5 of us! Most of our accommodations are 2 rooms and that is very expensive. In Paris we are renting an apartment, as we are in Beune.
thanks in advance!

Switzerland is not a low cost country by any means and although quad rooms can be found rather easily quint rooms are another story. It also depends on the ages of the 5 persons. 5 adults - forget about it. 2 adults + kids then you might find something. Trying www.booking.com and search for 5 persons with their ages and see what you can come up with.

Thanks Tim,
Yes, it is my husband, me and our 3 girls....ages 11, 13, 14 and even though they are very small, they are considered as adults. I will try booking.com.
thanks again

Rosie, forgive me for asking, but why Zürich?
Switzerland is famous for mountains and fresh air, not big cities. And Zürich is the biggest city in Switzerland.

Hi Chris,
We are just coming from Salzburg to Beune and then Paris, and it seems like Zurich is about 1/2 way. No reason (at all) that it needs to be Zurich. I would much rather stay in a small town, farm.....we are not exactly city people.
thank you!

Hi. My family of 5 is also traveling through Germany, Switzerland and then on to Paris this summer. It has been tough to find accommodations that suit our needs. We are actually staying in a family room in a hostel in two different places. Should be fun! I added Switzerland to our itinerary after falling in love with the idea of going up to the Jungfrau in the Alps. It's been an expensive addition for sure.

I'm wondering if maybe you'd consider just skipping Switzerland and staying somewhere near the border of Germany and France in the Alsace area? Freiburg or Colmar? Or if that's too far of a drive from Salzburg, maybe even Meersburg on Lake Constance? We were considering this hotel there which is quite reasonable for two rooms:

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the reply! You know, with a family of 5 how hard finding a place to stay is! I have made a tenative reservation in Mulhouse. From Salzburg it is a long drive, but then to Beaune is fairly short the following day.
I hope your family has a great trip! We leave on July 10th and I am reading SO much so I can be prepared. I used to travel to Europe before I got married and I loved it. I hope my kids like it too!
Thanks again!
