Okay this is an unusual inquiry. I have 3 people who want to go from Interlaken to Montreux on the GoldenPass Express Prestige.
How should I select seats? Assuming the right side in direction of travel is best view, should I take all three seats (within a group of 4 facing each other) on the same side? What if the fourth seat is occupied by ann individual who is a member of another party and they want to rotate the seats to face their own party? I think the pairs of seats rotate together if I’m not mistaken?
Finally, we may have a fourth local family member join us on this journey, which would make this seating a lot easier, but it’s not confirmed. What if we just reserved the 4 seat facing each other and have the last family member decide later if they want to join? If they don’t join would we lose that fourth seat to another party?
If it sounds like I’m just being snooty and not wanting to be around strangers, please let me further explain. Two of my family members get extreme motion sickness, usually in cars and airplanes. They didn’t have much of a problem on trains in Italy, however, I don’t want to take a chance in subjecting a stranger to having the awkward and uncomfortable feeling of watching my family dealing with any uneasiness associated with motion sickness when they really shouldn’t be having to focus on that instead of their beautiful journey. Hope this helps answer “why”. I just don’t want to subject others to our issues should they happen, so it’s more out of consideration than being selfish.
With that said- if we reserved a group of 4 seats facing each other and one traveler misses the train, will that fourth seat be given up to another traveler? If that’s the case I’ll probably just book 3 seats across laterally and not worry about everyone sitting together.
