ESIM cards

A recent article suggested purchasing an eSim card. Does anyone have experience with this? We have iPhone 13 phones on Consumer Cellular network. The options are: Change carrier to T mobile ; purchase physical SIM card after landing in Zurich, or purchase eSim card, with which we are unfamiliar.

The ones that pop up in the forums are Airalo and orange. There’s a long post in the technology forum if you want to delve into it.

I’ve used an Airalo esim here at home. It worked fine. A little slower than my usual Verizon service but certainly usable and fine for most purposes. Setup was a little confusing but I used the app which seemed easier to me.

Is you phone unlocked?
