We would like to overnight at Berggasthaus Aescher in Ebenalp for one night. We will need to provide our own sleeping bags and don't want to haul them across Switzerland only for one night. Does anyone know of equipment rental in the Appenzell region where we could get loaner sleeping bags? Thanks!

They probably mean a “sleep sack”, not an insulated sleeping bag. This is a thin liner, like a wraparound sheet, that is commonly required in mountain huts to use with the provided blankets or duvets. They are small and compact to carry, but many mountain inns and huts that require them have them available to rent if you do not have your own. Try asking the guesthouse—- but maybe they stopped providing them during the pandemic.
