Engelberg in July with family...then to Luzern. Thoughts?

We will be traveling from Paris to Zurich, with three days booked in Luzern. I just discovered that Titlus and Engelberg are close enough to possibly spend a couple of nights there between Paris and Luzern. It looks wonderful and I've scrolled back a year looking for info here on Engelberg.

We are traveling with a teen and two young adults, and this looks like some great outdoor activities right at our doorstep in Engelberg...but I would love to hear suggestions.

Any new experiences to share?
Good recs for a family room in a hotel? I saw one in Hotel Edelweiss but it isn't refundable and that specific room is not on Booking.com...so I'm hesitant.

Thanks for advice. I've just discovered this forum in the past week, and it is so interesting!! I love to hear reviews from other travelers.

I too am going to engelberg this summer. I have found thatbthe cancellation policies are very strictt for many hotels .However Terrace Hotel 10 min walk from railstation looks quite gd with a better cancel policy and rates that are workable for me. Also indo not know cancel policy for youth hostel there but they are nr railstation and have great rates and sound vg.
Best of luck book very soon as many in town are filling up fast for summer.

Thanks! I did find a place in Engelberg for our family, and I am excited. :0) I went ahead and booked through the hotel directly. It is non-refundable, but it is also exactly what we want to do, so I took the leap. :0)
