We are going for a couple of days each to Bettmeralp and Kanderstag. What hikes would you recommend? We like 2-3 hour hikes with up to 1000 ft/350m elevation gain. Thank you.

We just yesterday did Oeschinenee from Kandersteg. There are various options for hiking after you take the gondola from near town. Also the bus from Kandersteg can get you various places nearby. Your accommodation in K should give you the area transit pass. Good for bus and train but not the gondola. We were staying in Adelboden the next valley over and the bus down from A and up from K was included.

Above Kandersteg at Sunnbüel is a nice loop https://outdoor.meine-berge.ch/mobile/en/tour/hiking-trail/arvenseeli/51554012/. Not rigorous but very enjoyable.
Requiring more effort near Kandersteg is the Gasterntal where you need to make arrangements to catch the little shuttle bus to access this valley. I wrote about our hike here https://girovaga.com/2023/09/08/checking-things-off/
Bettmeralp has oodles of options. Just ask locally for advice.
